Will's take
Built for classrooms, priced for schools. Hard to justify at home.
The xsTECH makes total sense in a school: it’s enclosed, ready out of the box, and teaches students PathPilot — the same control they’ll find on Tormach’s full-size mills. The full controller, touchscreen and tool setter are all included.
For a hobbyist at home, though, $4,500 buys a 125 W spindle and a bed smaller than a sheet of paper. A Carvera does more for similar money. Unless you’re specifically learning PathPilot, I’d look elsewhere.

What I'd watch for
- Very small bed and 125 W spindle
- Expensive for what it cuts
- Light-duty in metals

Still confirming with Tormach: drive and motion type.
