Will's take
The desktop mill I’ve been waiting for someone to make — at a price that keeps it a dream for most.
This is the most exciting machine on the list for me. Carbide took the Nomad idea — enclosed, sits on a bench, safe to have in the house — and built it properly for metal: billet aluminum frame, ball screws and rails on every axis, and roughly ten times the spindle power of the Nomad 3.
It’s new as of May 2026, so there isn’t much long-term owner data yet, and $5,400 for a 10 × 8 inch envelope is real money. But if you want small aluminum parts without turning your garage into a machine shop, nothing else lands quite here.

What I like
- Ball screws and HG-15 rails on all axes
- 1.2 kW spindle — about 10× the Nomad 3
- Threaded table for proper workholding
- Enclosed and bench-sized
What I'd watch for
- Expensive for a 10 × 8 inch envelope
- Freight shipping, US only
- Brand new — little long-term data
